New Tech from Beyonce?

beyonce-launches-food-delivery-service-for-22-days-nutrition-0.jpg (1110×740)
So Beyonce joins a slew of celebrities launching product websites.
Beyoncé has partnered with her trainer Marco Borges to launch a new vegan meal delivery service.
22 Days Nutrition delivers fresh 100% plant-based meals to your door once a week.
Rates for the non-GMO, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free and organic range from $9.76 to $16.50 each.
“We all know the importance and value of eating plant-based foods but often times find ourselves trapped in a series of bad habits that sabotage optimum wellness,” says co-founder Borges. “The Vegan Meal Delivery program makes it easier to reset your habits with healthy and delicious plant-based foods.”

Is this new venture #ThatTechGirl Approved?

I have so many mixed feeling about this, but if it saves one animal I am on board. In a nutshell not eating meat, does NOT make you VEGAN. It makes you a person who doesn’t eat meat. What makes you #VEGAN is compassion for all living beings and our planet and environment while doing your BEST to leave the least amount of harm/footprint behind.
Eating a vegan meal, wearing leather shoes, adored with puppies around your shoulders, with a rabbit in your earrings, and a fox on your head, goat and lamb on your jacket, and snake on your foot is hardly a vegan make….just my few #bitcoins.
A step is a step and that is to be applauded because it will introduce a vegan lifestyle to the masses. I must say the founder seems to really lead a vegan lifestyle while his co founder, simply eats less meat. But a start is a start it saves lives. Dogs, cats, cows, pigs, fish, lamb, goats and many more send a nod in your direction

I just hope this more successful than House of Dereon. Lives are on the line!

Is it #ThatTechGirl Approved!

YES!

Enjoy

Social Media Photographer

You are losing money! Social media does the marketing for you!

Having a professional cameraperson to capture your events are great but you are losing an opportunity to capital on an untapped marketing. Those attending your event! You are missing key social traction. If you are not organically engaging attendees and helping facilitate an experience that will live online, you are missing an opportunity!

Professional pictures are great but they are not instant and they are NOT social!

How many times have you taken photos with a professional roaming photographer only to never see your picture again? They are still in archaic upload method of wanting you to leave your platform to view it. That is a lost engagement. Even if they upload wirelessly it is NOT social. Clients did not gain new followers, build relationships with attendees, upload to various channels across the attendees platform.

Biggest Sales Week for Silicon Valley is AFTER Christmas meet ‘New Device Week’

Many are familiar with Black Friday and now Cyber Monday, but few are taking advantage of NEW DEVICE WEEK. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are a cloudy foggy mess of advertising screaming at you to buy their newest shiniest erasable musical toothbrush for your dog. It has become a joke.

Yes we get it, there’s a massive spike from consumers demanding goods for whatever holiday they celebrate. The result, is that the advertising and marketing space is more crowded than ever. Holiday marketing is competitive, expensive, and very crowded. We have all but tuned it out on many levels.
But here comes Silicon Valley to rescue!
Tapping an relatively untapped in the industry, and it is mobile – the advertising medium many major advertisers are still struggling to figure out.

If you are a developer or founder of an app you need to keep reading.
#ThatTechGirl gives you the quick run down and shows you why you need to commit to New Device Week
New device Week Liberty Madison
What?
New Device Week

Why?
Millions of smartphones and tablets will be purchased for holiday gifts, but the majority of these will not actually be used until after Dec. 25.
Beginning on Christmas morning and extending through the following week, consumers will be figuring out how to use their new devices and discovering many mobile experiences for the first time.
Your app needs to be the present not the device!

Where?
Mobile
If you have an app this is your Olympics! Time to dig deep and give it all you’ve got! Your advertising push should not drop off like most hardware or consumer goods. They go “end of the earth silent” after DEc 25, this is a perfect time for you to kick it up notch! Every living room across the country will be filled with a techie or sudo techie giving app or download advice to a mom, dad, sister, brother, girlfriend, or boyfriend. 70% of all sales come from a friend or family recommendation. That is extremely powerful.

When?
December 25- Jan 2

How?
Make an effort to allocate funds, talent, ideas during the week where you have a captive audience. New Device Week. Focus your efforts on New Device Week if you are a software consumer startup, entertainment startup, new media, transmedia, or digital media.
What an ideal week to go viral!

According to Howcrio Bruley, founder at Criotivity a company lauching an entertainment app called Figure of Speech added “Apple isn’t accepting any updates between Dec 18- Dec 28, they know it’s a heavy download push so you need to be ready”. He goes on to note “Your app has to be approved by Apple for sale by December 18 in order for developers to release updates within that window. This also affects updates to Apple TestFlight environment”.

MobileMarketer.com goes on to say

If you are a brand looking to drive application downloads, imagine being able to reach consumers at the exact moment that they are looking for apps to populate their new device? If you are a retailer looking to drive customers back to your store for post-holiday and New Year’s sales, what better way to reach them than to deliver an offer on a device they will be glued to for days?
The possibilities are endless.

Entertainment advertisers can capitalize on New Device Week to drive consumers to their latest studio releases, consumer packaged goods advertisers can target consumers planning their New Year’s parties, and auto advertisers might run tablet campaigns offering interactive “Build-Your-Own” experiences, and present consumers with a mobile ad unlike anything they have seen before.

While new Device Week presents an exciting opportunity for advertisers, what is even more enticing is that most marketers are not budgeting or planning to capitalize on it. So, compared to Black Friday, Cyber Monday or other sought-after holiday days, the week is much less crowded so there are more and better opportunities to reach a target audience.

During the course of Advertising Week New York this year, we spoke with almost 1,000 industry insiders, and only 7 percent had even heard of New Device Week. Of those 7 percent, only 48 percent believed that it was a critical part of their upcoming holiday campaigns. This means that during the most crowded time of the year for advertising, New Device Week presents a real opportunity for advertisers to stand out.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday will be massive shopping days for the foreseeable future and will always be deserving of advertising dollars, but as marketers think strategically about the holidays, it is critical to understand that the holiday season does not stop at Christmas.

New Device Week is

The takeway is “New Device Week” is here to stay and the Gold Ticket for Mobile goods!

How to speak StartUp

As someone who lives the #StartupLife and brings it to millennials across the country I can +1 EVERYTHING Tech Crunch said in this article. This is by far the funniest thing I have ever read on Techcrunch

My favorite:

“Cash Flow Positive”
“I work in PR”
“The Space”
“We’re a design-centric organization”
“Growth Hacking”
“We are growing 500% week -over-week”

I literally almost dropped my phone while reading “Cash Flow Positive”

I absolutely hear ALL of these comments and lingo at tech talks, tech events, conferences, pizza shops, MUNI, BART, CalTrain, and the bathroom in Silicon Valley. It is everywhere.

And I am openly saying as #ThatTechGirl, we live in a bubble and have lost touch with reality and I love it!

I come across innovation at an alarming rate and the most disruptive sector is not solar power, transportation, energy, pollution, or medicine, it is the job title.
“Job Title Disruption” is as annoying as the word ‘disruption’. Both leave you asking the same question

“So what do you do?”

Here are a few of my favorites.

Job titles you will only find in Silicon Valley

1. Chief Happiness Officer
2. Chief Evangelist
3. Troublemaker
4. Growth Advocate

5 Growth Hacking Job Tips for #Millennials

Growth Hacking Job Tips from #ThatTechGirl Liberty Madison

As, #ThatTechGirl, I have been to enough startup events, conferences, meetups, hackathons, and dev boot camps, to know one thing- Always present yourself in the most desirable light as possible,in every area of your life.

Funding a startup is 90% presenting an image of confidence and the “I’m moving forward without you,if you want on board hurry up”. That is how you have to approach job search. You are not begging or desperate. You possess a skill THEY need. You are in demand remember that!

This is a quick easy guide to get you thinking in the right direction.

From this point forward we will not call it a job search it is now “client match”.

You need to first decide what type of client you are looking to partner with to enhance your career.
Who will fit your needs and fulfill your talents and skill set?
Remember it is no longer an employers market, it is not even an employee market. It is a collaboration market.
By the year 2020 40% of the workforce will realize they are a startup and work as a separate entity. They will fill outsourcing needs, work as a consultant, or launch a startup. They will perform the same functions for a larger corporations but experience freedom.
Start now, control and run your life as a startup (which you should already be doing). You may not be the founder of you (your parents did that) but you are the CEO of you. So run it as such. Your time is valuable, it is seriously all you have so guard it.

This is your simple #startupLife guide to job searches.

LibertMadison StartupLifeGRowthhacker

1. STOP looking for a job

Looking for a job is so time consuming and to be honest who really wants another job?
I am confident if you are reading this you are a leader in your field or on your way to being one. The #startuplife is not for those looking for a job. It is for those looking to create opportunity and create their position. Stop spending hours upon hours sending out resumes online. Create a deck of your skill sets and start pitching

2. Work on your online presence not your resume

Many people do not really like to read. Yea I know. Let alone hundreds of resumes. We live in the information Age, it is at our fingertips. If you send me a resume first thing I am going to do is go to your linkedin profile to check you out. So skip all the resume stuff and be sure your linkedin is a narrative of your working history. Tell a story. Show personality.
Do NOT just copy and paste. Seriously there’s a science to linkedin, follow it. In addition to linked in be sure to position yourself as leader on Twitter. Depending on your industry you may want to brand on Pinterest, Tumblr, Facebook, Instagram. etc. Your digital presence IS your resume. You cannot apply to be Social Manager and only have 130 followers. It’s the same line as “Never trust a skinny chef”. It may not be true but it is the way the world thinks. If you are a little hesitant about such a public life, I suggest get over it. If you cannot get over I suggest creating two accounts for each platform. A private (used for you for friends etc) and a public. But you need a public profile.

3. Stop attending networking mixers

Stop attending mixers where everyone there is looking for jobs!
No one is hiring. You will have better luck attending topic specific events and meetups and offer your clearly defined service and or product.

4. Clearly define your skillset

To clearly define does NOT mean to limit yourself, it simply means define it and be able to clearly communicate it. Answer the question as though it is a mission statement not a job function.
What problem can you solve or what can you teach(products/education/knowledge).
Commerce works in two simple ways. What can you do for me and what can I do for you. You need to figure out what you can do to help the other person(company)and that my friend is your “job”
Realize the age of one profession is dead. The year of the “Doctor for Life”, ” Teacher for Life”, and “Accountant for Life” are long gone. There is no gold watch or corner office. There’s only you and your willingness to growth hack your way to a lifestyle where you are satisfied. I personally do not know anyone who ONLY does ONE thing. It could be the Silicon Valley in me but everyone does multiple things, it’s called being a visionary rather than goal oriented. Here in the Valley if you perform one function you are stopping your growth and limiting your options. I am sure other parts of the country may look at it as fickle but that is why they are at a 9-5 job and people in the valley are notorious for innovation and changing industries.
Tim Ferriss is an published author, blogger, growth hacker, radio host, chef, body builder, public speaker, investor, tech and startup enthusiast, and thought leader. Diversity builds wealth and a fulfilled life.
Create different decks and various resumes.Liberty Madison and Tim Ferriss

5. Present yourself as a startup or consultant not an out of work job seeker

Follow the previous steps and go forward! You are now a consultant/startup with a defined skill set so go and PITCH to companies who need you to solve their issues.

Ah Ha moment on the BART

I running down the Civic Center BART stairs dashing toward the machine to buy a ticket to board BART around 940pm on 11.11.14
I am about to receive a life lesson.

As I am leaving SF Music Tech I was invited by startup founder Eduard Korijn to join him and his co founder in their Uber for a ride to BART. It was on their way so I said yes. I jump in and we are off! Laughing and talking with our Uber driver about how he wished he could drive for lyft in addition to Uber and how his clients prefer Uber because lyft drivers talk too much. As we hit Market street I point out the Twitter building and yell out “Hey So Cal wave at the Twitter building!” They are amazed and start waving! We continue to Uber down the road and arrive at Civic Center Bart. I say my thank yous and good byes and I am off!

I begin my dash down the stairs to the BART. I do not want to sit another 20 minutes for the next BART, so I am in a race against time.
As I approach the dispenser a street person comes up to me saying the conventional SF Bay Area Bart pitch! It is Shark Tank every time you get enter the station!

Spot #ThatTechGirl on Bart around San Francisco
Spot #ThatTechGirl on Bart around San Francisco

A man approaches me saying “I will give you this $10 ticket for $4!”

I instantly flash back to my BART orientation.
I always recall my training from my first BART commercial. The chairman of BART,told me to NEVER buy street tickets because they don’t work. So I have never bought a street ticket.

As I am franticly digging in my backpack looking for change, the strap decides so break and my bag starts to hit the ground but I make a quick football like move and catch it! Thanking the Gods nothing I owned hit the floor of CIVIC CENTER BART.

“Come on girl by this ticket, ill give you $10 for $3”

I reply “Sorry man, I would help you out but as you can see, I’m digging in my bag for change”.

He is hovering over me and yet I was not really nervous. My only thought was ‘Are you going to miss this BART because you don’t want to open your wallet in front of this man, you are seriously going to dig around for change instead of just pulling out your wallet and grabbing your card or cash’.

And the answer was yes because that is exactly what I was doing.

So I continue to dig around my broken backpack.

“Hey girl since you are so cute and I’ll let you have it for $2, come on baby just give me $2 for this $10 ticket.

I reply “Hey man I would but don’t you see me digging around for change, I would help you out but I can’t even get to my change, and you see my backpack just broke, I swear I would help you out but I’m looking for change myself. I am hoping this satisfies him and encourages him to leave me alone.

All the while I am focused on not pulling out my wallet.

Still hovering over me and cornering me, he leans in and says
“You look like you are struggling and you need help”.
I look up and he is reaching into his pocket and adding coin after coin to my BART ticket. He looks at me and says “Where are you headed is this enough to get you home do you need more?”

I am speechless.

This person was just asking me to buy a hot ticket and I was afraid to open my wallet for fear of I don’t know what, and he turns around and saves my evening by giving me enough change to catch my BART and dash for the train in a nick of time!

AH HA MOMENT> calm down liberty-

I ran down the escalator and jumped it 2 seconds before the doors closes and proclaimed to my entire train “I made it”!!!!!!!!

They all smiled and many laughed. I told them my AH HA moment and asked them to pass it on.
DO NOT judge people and do not be shocked my kindness, its in our DNA.
