I caught up with Liberty Madison in San Francisco California as she was leaving an invite only event, 5th Annual Extraordinary Womens Lunch hosted by Anjou Ahlborn Kay, I asked for a few moments of her time to discuss her latest announcement on Instagram @LIbertyMadison

“I’m thrilled to be the 1st ever non #cisco employee to over their social. They have worked with influencers in the past but this is a very unique opportunity. I am the first ever social media influencer to take over their social. They have millions of fans and loyal followers and I am looking forward to meeting them. This is Huge! 5th Annual Anjou’s Extraordinary Ladies Luncheon

5th Annual Anjou’s Extraordinary Ladies Luncheon

5th annual Anjou's Extraordinary Ladies Luncheon

Anjou Ahlborn Kay, principal at FusionStorm, held The 5th Annual Extraordinary Ladies Luncheon in San Francisco at LUMNIA on March 5, 2017. The invite only lunch brings together Powerful Women of Silicon Valley.
Anjou is also founder of Hack Cancer as well as Mr|Ms. Silicon Valley.
When she is not hosting one of her many events that brings the people of Silicon Valley together Mrs.Kay serves as the North American Ambassador for WED (Women’s Entrepreneurship Day) at the United Nations. She sits on the Women’s Board for SFMOMA and LLS (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) Nominations Board. She also owns Bamboo Asia Restaurant, a unique concept experience where Japanese, Vietnamese, and Indian cuisine meet near Market Street.

Let’s get into it shall we!

It was my first time attending this event and it was such a dynamic experience! I was inspired by a room full of successful women who did not start the conversation with “What Do You Do”!
Oh wow! I am grateful for that one!

I seriously loathe that question. It’s not because I don’t “do” anything, like most people in Silicon Valley we all do a lot, it is because it is uncreative and lacks true interest in the other party. I advise people to NEVER ever start any conversation with “What Do You Do” phrase.

Ok let’s get back to the good stuff!

Anjou kicked off her event with a ice breaker that sparked conversation, chatter, and excitement!
She held up a name tag and pen and yelled “Ladies write your name and one thing you are passionate about or something you are just excited about right now, It does not have to be work related, it can be anything”.

OH and the fun began!!

I met a woman who was excited about puppies, I myself was excited about Instagram, so we begin exchanging instagram accounts about puppies! I later found out she manages startup founders wealth of tens of tens of millions of dollars in private funds! Yes she does wealth management but she also loves puppies. I say this is proof you can have it all, if you ask me!

This ice breaker was Gold! I learned so much about each and every attendee!

We then went on to claim our seats at a beautifully decorated table. We enjoyed a buffet style indian meal as every woman addressed the room regarding her current excitement.

The indian food was amazing!! Vegetarian/vegan gold!!

So who was in the room?

The room was filled with senior engineers, executives, Google, NASA, founders, wealth managers, artist, and developers. One theme rang true throughout this entire lunch. Everyone spoke about there excitement for love, fitness, following their passion and building a well rounded balanced life! I LOVED it!!
Why did I love it? Well I am typically sitting through boring conversation. You know the “This is what I do, this is how important I am, look at me because I am so dope I bet you can’t handle my life” meeting. This is the total opposite. I see why Anjou is so beloved by her friends. Her friends reflect her on so many levels. Each and every woman attended with one goal in mind, to meet friends and truly connect. It was not “job title meets job title” it was simply human meets human.

My style!

Well then it was my turn to take the floor and something came over me… I went full on Ted Talk!
Anjou Kay Luncheon

I started by saying” I could talk to you about original digital content, but I’m not. I could talk to you about my passion for millennial entrepreneurs but I won’t. I could even talk about how I help brands leverage social media to expand and explode their brand
but I would rather talk to you about how I took a year off to change my life by leveraging technology!

I introduced the room to #ThatChallenge Girl.
IMG_20161227_191522_563 (1)

I wanted to connect with my new friends on a level we are all passionate about: Accomplishing goals, gaining confidence, achieving new levels of fitness, and mastering self awareness. I just celebrated my one year anniversary of #ThatChallenge girl, on March 1 and I am excited, so I had to share it!!

My first TedTalk!

Anjou is an dynamic woman who brought an amazing group of women together to discuss their goals, passions, and how we can work together to support each other…

FREE Ultimate Guide to #Valentine’s #TheDigitalDate

#Technology to keep the ❤ alive!

Valentine’s Day: Guide to #TheDigitalDate!
By #ThatTechGirl
@LibertyMadison

Many turn to Technology to keep love and crushes alive!

Whether you use technology to stalk your crush on Instagram or find your long lost high school boyfriend on facebook. Technology is the best way to bring young love together if you cannot physically be in the same space!

#ThatTechGirl, Liberty Madison, known as the Oprah of Silicon Valley, developed The Ultimate
Guide to #TheDigitalDate.

Introducing the Digital Date!

You: WTF is a digital date?
Me: Keep Reading
You: Hurry up
Me: Ok calm down, here you go!

But why a Digital Date?
A digital date keeps your budding romance in bloom! No seriously it gives you the opportunity to fall in love with your operating system, you literally begin to develop feelings or someone you cannot physically see or touch.

It also saves time, money, energy, frustration, and It keeps your IG crushes happy!! It is a time to be creative, romantic, spontaneous, strategic, and say things you have never said before!
All for the FREE.99!

Warning: Be sure your digital date actually knows they are your digital date because there is a digital footprint. I would hate to see you post your Valentine’s date picture and then her husband comments and then geo tracks you, shows up, and now you are on World Star. Not ideal.
Ugh don’t you just hate it when that happens.
So let’s get into it shall we!

A digital date is a digital footprint of your courtship. An all day text, photo, phone call, social media highlight of your budding love!

7 Steps to #TheDigitalDate

Guide to #TheDIGITALDate

1. Text – Send a minimum of 5 Text! Be sure they are kind, flirty, and positive text. Space them 2 hours apart. Be sure to include heart and smiley face emojis
(Do not text: Hi, Hey, WYD, How is your day, What’s up, Hello Under ANY circumstances….EVER)

2. Facebook – Post photos of your date! Post pictures of you and your love on facebook. Add the photo to his or her Facebook Wall and TAG her/him in the post! The Tag is very important. The tag ensures EVERYone can see the post! If that aint a declaration of love…idk what is!

3. Selfie exchange – Take flirty (non nude) photos and exchange pictures throughout the day. Space the photos 3 hours apart. Photos can include your whereabouts. Think cup of coffee and a cute note, gym picture and a cute note, holding a creative sign that says “This sign does not miss you, but I DO”

4. Live! – Get personal! Use a live service such as Google Hangout or FaceTime.
Best to save the Live for the after 8pm- and go for it!

5. Instagram- Take a screenshot of the FaceTime and then POST it on IG AND TAG! Yes I said TAG

6. Send a spotify playlist – Create a custom spotify list. And send it to them via text. Yep go straight mixtape junior high! Don’t have one? Follow my Spotify playlist they are #dopeaf @libertymadison on Spotify

7. THE HOLY GRAIL – THE PHONE CALL – The Highlight! Set aside 1 hour to actually talk on the phone. Space this between 9p-11p
Say things from the heart.
Be honest and transparent!

About me: Hi there! I launched Ultimate Guide to The Digital Date: Valentine’s Edition on Valentine’s Day 2016.
My Digital Date for 2017 is a close long time friend. He is based in Los Angeles while I am based in Silicon Valley. We have busy lives and so we rely on technology to keep us connected.
The Digital Date is the ideal solution!

Super Bowl: A must read if you are from TEXAS or like the COWBOYS

A must read if you are a Texan or like the Dallas Cowboys

At a private SuperBowl NFL Runway show overlooking the bay on Pier 27 in San Francisco

Me: (Walks up to a group of 4 very large men talking)
Me: (Taps Michael Irvin on elbow)
Me: (Gains his attention)
Me: (To the group ) Excuse me gentlemen

Me: Hi, I’m Liberty. Liberty Madison. I am a Texan. It is a honor to have you here at Super Bowl Silicon Valley. I remember. I remember everything you did for Dallas. And on behalf of the City of Dallas, I would like to thank you for our SuperBowls and for all of your hard work. Thank you.

Him: (shocked face)

Me: Might I trouble you for a photo.

Him: You are gorgeous. And intelligent. I’d love to get a picture with you. Let’s actually get my agent to take it.
(He motions for me to follow him and leads me over to his table area with his agent and friends)

Him: (to agent) This is Liberty Madison
Take some photos of us together. (Photos taken)

Him: (to me) Do you like those did you get what you need?

Me: No, they are blurry

Him: Don’t worry we will take it until we get it right.

Me: Let’s get a selfie for the gram while your agent gets it together. ………

In case you missed it!
I made my TWIT.TV debut!
I had the honor and privilege to talk tech with the original The Tech Guy, Leo Laporte!
Sitting along side Silicon Valleys finest, Alex Wilhelm of Tech Crunch and Lauren Hockenson from Nextweb. We talked professional drone selfies, hashtags, 50 cent (fiddy cent as Leo likes to call him), self driving cars, brogrammers with hoover boards, and some good ole patent infringement. Seriously, we need to decide once and for all who actually owns a circle?!

A #LibertyLesson – Moving Forward

image

A #LibertyLesson on #MotivationMonday about #movingforward. When one door closes another door opens. It doesn’t matter if you closed the door or if you opened it. It’s called Life. The very nature of life is to move forward, grow, expand, populate, and explore. Moving forward offers just that.
You do not have the option to grow old, you only have the option to grow wise. Do not move forward for the sake of movement but move forward for the sake of growth. Change for the sake of change falls flat, but change for the chance at life is transcendent.
A new year, a new focus, a new you.
Every moment you are a new you,you are moving forward with or without you,so catch up and get in the game!!

I am on a Panel called “The Future of Journalism in a Wikipedia World”

image

I had the opportunity to sit in on a panel entitled
“The Future of Journalism in a Wikipedia World”
hosted by Pete Forsyth in conjunction with Hacks and Hackers Hacks and Hackers in San Francisco. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to sit on a panel with such dynamic leaders in reporting and journalism in Silicon Valley.

Andrew Lih, Associate Professor of Journalism, American University; author, The Wikipedia Revolution

Dan Cook, news reporter and editor (BusinessWeek, Knight-Ridder, American Lawyer Media, Newhouse); Associate, Wiki Strategies

Liberty Madison, founder at Digital PlayGround, StartupHouseOakland, Python Ear Code; an idea hacker & adviser, various tech startups.

Pete Forsyth, Wikipedia editor since 2006; founder, Wiki Strategies

We focused on a number of issues surrounding Wikipedia and how much we should rely on it to spread content as well as how much we reply on it to provide us with valid verified information. I was not brought in for my expertise on wiki edits, I personally do not edit wiki, I was the millennial voice on Wikipedia. As you can see in the video below millennials believe Wikipedia like Southerners believe the bible. There is no other truth. Many of us in look at Wiki as the Encyclopedia online instead of a crowd sourced content. Our entire lives we have had information at our fingertips. We you are 8, 12,or 15 and you have access to the internet you use Wiki on a daily basis. You have grown up on it. It is not perceived as a transition, it is a staple.

Wiki has improved its standards on who can edit and when an edit is allows which helps the platform remain unbiased.
The goal is to keep the neutral neutral and just report without insult to a living person. Lets not kill off a guy, change history, or become a cyber bully. What is written on Wikipedia is perceived as factual and perception is everything. Be careful out there!

Do you edit Wikipedia? Do you post your own content to expand your audience?
I would love to know!

See the outline below:

Wikipedia has many impacts on journalism, and offers lessons and opportunities to those in the profession. In this session — hosted at Nomiku (who will serve mouth-watering appetizers and cocktails, see below) and co-sponsored by Wiki Strategies — we will explore questions like:

• Are journalism values present in Wikipedia’s policies and practices?

• Do amateurs and dabblers act like journalists in their Wikipedia work? Should they?

• Does Wikipedia threaten business models in journalism, or offer new business opportunities?

This participatory panel discussion will explore these questions and more.
Thank you Pete for moderating and producing this event!
